KROD: The New Year

it’s that time of the month again.. It’s Karaoke time ! This month I’m very fortunate to host the wonderful Daniella! Make sure you check out her blog at http://www.daniellarobin.com/

So it is a new year, maybe the end of the world as we know it, but KROD is still alive and kicking and when I found out that this month pretty much anything goes I knew right away which song I was going to pick.Too Much Food by Jason Mraz is pretty much my theme song. The opening line is my Twitter bio and it is my jam. It is my song! So what better song for the New Year then the theme song of well ..me? Thanks Edwin for being my gracious host and I hope you enjoy this as much as I do!

Ten on Tuesday: The 2012 saga begins!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Even though we started a new year, it’s still Tuesday and that means it’s time for…

Ten On Tuesday

1. What did you get for Christmas?

A new hoodie 😀 and in the weeks leading up to Christmas I got myself a new phone and an iPad, so I guess you could see those as gifts as well, even though I payed for them myself.

2. Have you taken down your Christmas decorations?

Not yet, but one of these days I’m taking it down.

3. What did you do for New Years Eve?

I watched some tv at my parents house, ate A LOT of food and got annoyed by the fireworks.

4. Do you like accents?

YES! I’m pretty fascinated by accents and dialects. If I were to talk to you I’d probably try to figure out where your accent is from and tell you why I like it so much. In a non-creepy way of course (well, most of the time)

5. What kind of television do you have?

Technically, I don’t own a tv. I have a projector that projects on my wall. Which is pretty epic, because the image is HUGE!

6. Did you make any changes at the beginning of 2012?

Yes, quite a few. I’ve even joined the 12 changes in 2012 program. More about that in the morning, so stay tuned 🙂

7. What’s the last book you read and do you recommend it?

“read me” by Peter deWolf and yes, I.d definitely recommend it.

8. Do you stay current on celebrity gossip?

Only when I’m bored. So yes, I’m pretty up to date ( I travel by train a lot and get bored easily 😉 )

9. Do you know the words to Bohemian Rhapsody? Gangstas Paradise? Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?
Almost,
no,
Hell Yeah!

10. What is your favorite educational television show?

How Do They Do It? On discovery channel. I could watch that show for hours and hours. And top gear, but I’m not sure that’s considered to be educational.

Master Chef?

Hi !

First of all, Merry Christmas to you and your family ! May your holiday season be filled with happyness, laughter and of course Gifts 🙂

On to the moral of this story.  Because tomorrow/today is christmas, my parents are coming over for lunch. Since I kinda wanted to impress them (my cooking-skills are notoriously poor) i decided i wanted to serve them home-made Chicken-soup. I figured this wouldn’t be very difficult to make yet still give the impression that i made an effort.

So, i looked up a recipe and bought all the stuff i needed in the store. The recipe told me to get a pan of boiling water, insert the chicken, and let it boil for about 2 hours. So I boiled a pan of water, threw in the chicken, set a timer, and went about my other business (cleaning the house :p )

After 1,5 hours i decided to go check up on it. This is what i found:

So, all the water that was supposed to be my soup had disappeared. So that’s a #FAIL.

Good thing I know myself pretty well, so i had a few backup plans. I got myself a different pan, boiled some water, added some blocks of chicken broth and vegetables and Voila, one pan of soup 🙂

I actually tried making something else too, which – so far – has worked out OK:

I just need to pop these in the oven once they get here, so that should be fine 🙂

Now, what do you think ? Am I Master Chef material ?

Ten of Tuesday Vol 4. Random & Christmas

1. What are 3 things that are on your Christmas wishlist?
I want to spend time with family and friends. I want my friend to come over for either christmas or new years eve (both of which i already know won’t happen) and i want to get the new iPhone.

2. What’s your favorite Christmas song?
Jingle Bells.

3. Do you have a favorite band or singer that sings it especially awesome?
Nope, Anything but Justin Bieber. I just *really* don’t like Bieber

4. Have you heard about the website goodreads?
Yes, because the #twookclub is on there 🙂

5. What are 3 books you want to read?

1. The Fault in our Stars by John Green
2. Name of our star by Maureen Johnson
3. Anything by Peter de Wolf

6. Do you hunt deer?
No. Mostly because thats illegal.

7. Have you started Christmas shopping? Are you completely finished?
No because i don’t have to buy anything for anyone. I’m buying myself a few things, that’s about it. I’m not finished yet.

8. Did you shop on Black Friday? What was the best deal you got?
I didn’t. I checked out some of the deals online but honestly, i was pretty disappointed.

9. What’s one holiday tradition your family has?
There’s isn’t any. Usually we just get together (just me and my parents) to have dinner or something. I hope to one day have a family of my own to start traditions with.

10. How many blogs do you read? Do you subscribe/unsubscribe often or do you purge every once in a while?
Not as much as i’d like to. But i’m trying to get in a few blogs a day. But right now i mostly read stuff that shows up on twitter. I have google reader, but i rarely use it. Maybe when i get more into blogging i’ll start using it more often. But i hate that i can’t comment from google reader, so i have to click to the site anyway in order to leave a comment.

Happy Hump Day !

Even though in most parts of the world, it is no longer Wednesday, i figured i’d make this post anyway 🙂

Welcome to Hump Day ! For those of you who don’t know, Hump Day is just a different way of saying Wednesday. Congratulations, you made it this far, now to just tackle the rest of the week and then there’s time to relax during the weekend. Unless, of course, you have to work during the weekend. In that case.. ehm.. sorry. But good luck !

Hump day is usually the crappiest day of the week. The previous weekend is now so far away that the effects have worn off by now and by now the realization has hit that the next weekend is still two looooong days away.

Som in order to provide some motivation to get through the rest of the weekm i’m going to provide you with some things i found online that make me happy.  I hope this will provide some motivation for the remainder of the week.  Here goes:

1. Blackberry

2. Gabriel Iglesias – Stand Up Revolution

3. Slipknot vs. Justin Bieber MashUp.

That’s it for this week ! Maybe i’ll do this again some day. Leave a message in the comments to tell me what you think of my suggestions and tell me what makes you happy.

Ten on Tuesday (Vol. 3)

It’s tuesday ! Which means it’s time for Ten on Tuesday, hosted once again by Chelsea at Roots and Rings

1. Do you wear glasses, contacts, or are you one of those perfect eyed people?

I’ve been wearing since i’ve been about 12.

2. What is the next item you are going to purchase?

Probably something to eat. If we’re talking bigger purchases, A Christmas Tree.

3. Have you ever watched Judge Judy or any other real court show?

I have. I wasn’t really impressed. I don’t think the justice system is something that should be exploited like this.

4. How do you feel about fake nails?

I don’t understand them. People clip their nails so they can glue longer nails on them. Just don’t clip them, you’ll get longer fingernails with a completely natural look 🙂

5. What is your favorite sport to watch?

I’m not really a sport personm but i like watching NBA basketball and table tennis.

6. If you could create your own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, what would it be and what would it be named?

It’d be cheese and some sort of fruit. I’d call it ‘The Trap’ and have a guy called Tom do all of the promo work.

7. Do you have any scars?

Oh yes, plenty. Both from getting beat up when i was younger and from me being an idiot. And a few that you can’t see because they’re emotional scars.

8. Does your pet’s name fit them? Is there a more appropriate name?

I have an invisible dog (aka no pets), I call him Pete. I don’t know why, i just like the sound of that name.

9. What is your favorite television show theme song?

10. What was your favorite activity on the playground?

Digging. I’d make a complete mess of myself as soon as i went near the sand 🙂

Ten on Tuesday: Thanksgiving

I’m doing Ten on Tuesday today 😀 Thanks to Chelsea at Roots And Rings for hosting !

I really like the topic, so here goes:

1. What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year?
I’m thinking about visiting a friend. But it’s a regular work-day so i’m not sure if that will happen.

2. What are you most thankful for this year?
Internet-friends. They helped me get through depression and other difficulties and make me laugh daily.

3. Do you have any traditions on Thanksgiving? The parade? Football? Long naps?
Work. Thanksgiving isn’t really a thing here, so there’s no special events or anything. But i still think it’s good to take a moment and think about all the good things in your life.

4. Is it called stuffing or dressing? Is it in the bird or a separate dish?
It’s called stuffing. And it needs to go IN the bird. If you serve it as a seperate dish, it’s no longer called stuffing, it’s called a side dish.

5. Do you cook?
Not a lot. Because i’m a culinary disaster. To prove that: 2 days ago i set fire to a pan while cooking a burger. I’m really that terrible.

6. What is your favorite dish?
I love the turkey. I don’t like making it (i don’t have the patience) but i like eating it.

7. What is your dessert preference?
Just some fruit. I don’t want to ruin the taste of the turkey 🙂

8. What is your favorite Thanksgiving memory?
Don’t really have any yet. This is the first year i’m actively remembering to do something special for Thanksgiving.

9. Do you plan to shop on Black Friday?
Nope. But that’s mostly thanks to the lack of funds. And because i want to go to Vidcon in LA next year i need to save up as much as i can.

10. What are you most dreading about Thanksgiving this year?
Nobody else in my town or group of IRL friends celebrating it. I wish more people in the Netherlands would be aware of thanksgiving.

Old-Skool vs New-Skool

Hello There,

Nice of you to tune in to my blog. This month, i’m doing #NaBloPoMo, which means i’ll tryto post on my blog every single day in november.

Today’s prompt: When you are writing, do you prefer to use a pen or a computer?

I use a computer. I very rarely use a pen, for various reasons:

1. My handwriting is terrible.

No, really, it is. Half the time i’m not even sure what it says when i’m reading something i wrote down earlier.

2. I’m going to digitize it anyway.

Everything i need to keep from writing anything goes into my computer so i keep a proper backup. So first writing it down with a pen just doubles the work. I can imagine that when phones weren’t a big thing yet, you’d write stuff down when you’re on the road or something, but with smartphones these days, it seems obsolete.

3. “The Black Hole”

so here’s the thing. I always carry at least three pens with me, in case the ink runs out on one or even two of them. But by the time i get home at night, it seems that all my pens have magically vanished. My phone or laptops never have that issue.

And last but certainly not least:

4. I don’t like writing with a pen

I just don’t like writing with a pen. It’s slow, inaccurate and – after a while – even painful. I hate it. Computers FTW !
