Ten on Tuesday (Vol. 3)

It’s tuesday ! Which means it’s time for Ten on Tuesday, hosted once again by Chelsea at Roots and Rings

1. Do you wear glasses, contacts, or are you one of those perfect eyed people?

I’ve been wearing since i’ve been about 12.

2. What is the next item you are going to purchase?

Probably something to eat. If we’re talking bigger purchases, A Christmas Tree.

3. Have you ever watched Judge Judy or any other real court show?

I have. I wasn’t really impressed. I don’t think the justice system is something that should be exploited like this.

4. How do you feel about fake nails?

I don’t understand them. People clip their nails so they can glue longer nails on them. Just don’t clip them, you’ll get longer fingernails with a completely natural look 🙂

5. What is your favorite sport to watch?

I’m not really a sport personm but i like watching NBA basketball and table tennis.

6. If you could create your own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, what would it be and what would it be named?

It’d be cheese and some sort of fruit. I’d call it ‘The Trap’ and have a guy called Tom do all of the promo work.

7. Do you have any scars?

Oh yes, plenty. Both from getting beat up when i was younger and from me being an idiot. And a few that you can’t see because they’re emotional scars.

8. Does your pet’s name fit them? Is there a more appropriate name?

I have an invisible dog (aka no pets), I call him Pete. I don’t know why, i just like the sound of that name.

9. What is your favorite television show theme song?

10. What was your favorite activity on the playground?

Digging. I’d make a complete mess of myself as soon as i went near the sand 🙂

Ten on Tuesday: Thanksgiving

I’m doing Ten on Tuesday today 😀 Thanks to Chelsea at Roots And Rings for hosting !

I really like the topic, so here goes:

1. What are you doing for Thanksgiving this year?
I’m thinking about visiting a friend. But it’s a regular work-day so i’m not sure if that will happen.

2. What are you most thankful for this year?
Internet-friends. They helped me get through depression and other difficulties and make me laugh daily.

3. Do you have any traditions on Thanksgiving? The parade? Football? Long naps?
Work. Thanksgiving isn’t really a thing here, so there’s no special events or anything. But i still think it’s good to take a moment and think about all the good things in your life.

4. Is it called stuffing or dressing? Is it in the bird or a separate dish?
It’s called stuffing. And it needs to go IN the bird. If you serve it as a seperate dish, it’s no longer called stuffing, it’s called a side dish.

5. Do you cook?
Not a lot. Because i’m a culinary disaster. To prove that: 2 days ago i set fire to a pan while cooking a burger. I’m really that terrible.

6. What is your favorite dish?
I love the turkey. I don’t like making it (i don’t have the patience) but i like eating it.

7. What is your dessert preference?
Just some fruit. I don’t want to ruin the taste of the turkey 🙂

8. What is your favorite Thanksgiving memory?
Don’t really have any yet. This is the first year i’m actively remembering to do something special for Thanksgiving.

9. Do you plan to shop on Black Friday?
Nope. But that’s mostly thanks to the lack of funds. And because i want to go to Vidcon in LA next year i need to save up as much as i can.

10. What are you most dreading about Thanksgiving this year?
Nobody else in my town or group of IRL friends celebrating it. I wish more people in the Netherlands would be aware of thanksgiving.

Old-Skool vs New-Skool

Hello There,

Nice of you to tune in to my blog. This month, i’m doing #NaBloPoMo, which means i’ll tryto post on my blog every single day in november.

Today’s prompt: When you are writing, do you prefer to use a pen or a computer?

I use a computer. I very rarely use a pen, for various reasons:

1. My handwriting is terrible.

No, really, it is. Half the time i’m not even sure what it says when i’m reading something i wrote down earlier.

2. I’m going to digitize it anyway.

Everything i need to keep from writing anything goes into my computer so i keep a proper backup. So first writing it down with a pen just doubles the work. I can imagine that when phones weren’t a big thing yet, you’d write stuff down when you’re on the road or something, but with smartphones these days, it seems obsolete.

3. “The Black Hole”

so here’s the thing. I always carry at least three pens with me, in case the ink runs out on one or even two of them. But by the time i get home at night, it seems that all my pens have magically vanished. My phone or laptops never have that issue.

And last but certainly not least:

4. I don’t like writing with a pen

I just don’t like writing with a pen. It’s slow, inaccurate and – after a while – even painful. I hate it. Computers FTW !

Foooodddd :)

I decided that today I would use a prompt to help me get a topic for this post. So today prompt is:

If you knew that whatever you ate next would be your last meal, what would you want it to be?

That’s easy. Pie. Lots and lots of pie. Normally I can’t eat them because of my lactose intolerance, but if it’s the last thing I’ll ever eat anyway, I might as well go crazy.

Other than that, I’d probably have a pretty basic meal. Just stuff I like, like chicken. I might eat a but more then usual, but hey, it’s my last meal! There’s a completely different rule book for last meals :p

November challenges

Hello there !

Long time no see ! It’s nice to finally be able to place a (semi-)decent blog post, after a few months of failures.

As you may have have noticed, November is here. This is usually a big month on the interwebz. A small list of stuff on the roll for november:

– NaNoWriMo

Aspiring writers will attempt NaNoWriMo, which is National Novel Writing Month. Writing the complete first draft of a book in a month seems like quite a daunting task. I wish all participants the best of luck and look forward to reading some of the end results 🙂

-Movember

This is a no-shaving challenge for the sake of charity. (mostly) men get people to sponsor them to not shave for the entire month. The money goes to cancer research.

-NaBloPoMo

This is the one. I’m participating in. It’s National Blog Posting Month. One blog a day keeps the trolls away 🙂

Those are the three biggest initiatives I know of. If there’s any more I should have mentioned, let me know in the comments 🙂

Also, are you participating in any November challenges ? If so, which one(s) ? Let me know where you’re posting updates on your challenge so I keep. Stalk..ehm..follow your progress 😉

See you later !

365 Day Challenge: Day 16

Someone you completely trust and why?

My BFF. I’d put my life in her hands and i know i’d be OK. We both have our issues and akward things, but that’s one of many reasons i trust her completely.

We met a couple of years ago when the company she worked at at the time had computer-issues and i was called in to fix all of the issues. At that time, i didn’t know we would become friends, let alone BFF’s. A couple of weeks later i was back at that office for more issues and we got some coffee, because we were both working late. We got talking and found out we had quite a lot in common.

When she got in some trouble, i decided to help and take care of her and that strengthened our bond. We’ve been best friends ever since. I know she can relate to some of the stuff i’m struggling with and i can i can trust her with everything.

365 Day Challenge: Day 15

A song that makes you emotional and why?

There’s several dutch songs that make me very emotional. But because (due to the language barrier) you wouldn’t see why, i’m sticking to songs in English or by english musicians that make me emotional.

1. Candle in the wind by Elton John

I got to know this song when he played it at the funeral of Princess Diana. It made me cry back then and it still gets me all teary when i hear the song.

2. My Way by Herman Brood

This song always makes me very emotional because it was played at my granddad’s funeral a couple of years back.. I still miss him dearly and the song reminds me of him and the funeral.

3. Wanna be a hippy by Party Animals

This is quite an old song, but it makes me laugh very loudly everytime i hear the song. It also has a very catchy melody so it’s stuck in your head for a few days after listening to it.

4. Barbie girl by Aqua

This song only got into my emotional-list recently. It reminds me of happy times with a dear friend. I don’t get to see her as much as i’d like to, so if i feel sad, i just play this song and everything gets better 🙂

5. Not an addict by K’s Choice

The song reminds me of friends lost to drugs and alcohol addiction and my own constant battle to stay on the right path. It’s complicated. But i love this song.

That’s it. My Top-5-songs-that-make-me-emotional-list. What’s yours ?

PS. The order of the list changes depending on my mood.
